Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired specializes in providing services for students who are blind and visually impaired to local school districts located throughout the Bay Area. Our Teachers of Visual Impairments (TVI) and interns have schedule flexibility, low caseloads, and administration support who specialize in vision loss and understand the many demands of teaching. The Vista Center Mentorship Program is designed to provide guided, hands-on experience to students working through their teaching degree. TVIs in Training will work under a veteran teacher gaining exposure to students with a variety of visual diagnoses and educational placements. The Mentorship Program will develop emerging TVIs into knowledgeable and capable instructors who are prepared to raise the next generation of students with visual impairments.
TVIs in Training will be compensated with market competitive rates and benefits and are expected to work a part-time caseload under the direction of a mentor teacher. TVIs will be working with either an intern credential which Vista Center will sponsor. TVIs in Training must be currently accepted or enrolled in a special education, VI degree program.
