Written English Proficiency (WEP) Requirement
Directions: Upload the appropriate test scores with the application documents in the “Test Reporting”section. Proof of registration or proof of attempt may be uploaded for initial review purposes only. Applicants will not be admitted into the MA in Special Education program without proof of minimum or passing test scores.
Each graduate student must demonstrate the ability to write English correctly and effectively. To assure that each graduate student has the required proficiency in Written English, two distinct assessments are made by the major department: Level One and Level Two. The Level One requirement must be fulfilledprior to admission. Note: The CBEST Writing Test and the CSET Multiple Subjects tests do not fulfill this requirement.
Applicants will be required to submit evidence of one of the following test results:
A. CSET Writing Skills Test: passing status score of 220 points
B. GRE Analytical Writing Test/Section or GMAT Analytical Writing Assessment: minimum score of at least 3.5/6.0
C. Former Graduate Essay Test (GET): minimum score of 5
D. TOEFL paper-based [PBT]: minimum score of at least 4.5/6.0 on the essay test TOEFL Internet-based test [iBT]: minimum score of 24/30 on the Writing section
E. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) writing test: minimum score of at least 6.5/9.0 or a concordant score on the Pearson Test of English
Note: Options D and E are only for students who received their bachelors degree outside of the U.S.
