Dr. Sandra Rosen receives the San Francisco State University 2022 Distinguished Faculty Award for her Excellence in Service

Congratulations to Dr. Sandra Rosen for receiving the San Francisco State University 2022 Distinguished Faculty Award for her Excellence in Service! An award ceremony was held during the Academic Senate plenary session.

Dr. Rosen is a giant in the field of special education and specifically within Orientation & Mobility. She has made a significant impact on the quality of life for individuals with disabilities to move and travel independently in the world. The ability to move safely and confidently through the environment is an essential element in human development and independence for all people. This is a core equity, social justice, and human right that individuals without visual impairments take for granted. 

For 34 years, Dr. Rosen has provided leadership to the Department of Special Education and to the Orientation & Mobility program, faculty, and students. In collaboration with her team, she has made the Orientation & Mobility program into what it is today—a thriving and rigorous clinical and rehabilitation program that is well-respected and globally recognized.
